The Hub is the local drop-in neighbourhood resource centre offering services to community members suffering financial hardship and social isolation.
The centre’s doors are also open to people requiring general support for day to day concerns with a low cost food pantry available on Wednesdays.
Low Cost Food Pantry…
Here’s something you may not have known about your local Caringbah Coles, located on the corner of President Avenue and Willarong Road – they provide free fruit & veg to the Hub Community Centre! The food supplied by Coles is for distribution to low income earners in the local Caringbah, Cronulla, Kurnell & Bundeena area.
It’s like this: If you’re a on a limited income, you know all to well how hard it is to budget for nutritious, wholesome food for your family. Thankfully, if you are a Centrelink concession card holder you simply take it on down to the Hub and pick up your free fruit, veg and bread. There is also a low-cost food pantry available for other grocery needs.
The low-cost food pantry service is made possible by the Hub’s partnership with Second Bite and Coles. In 2010, Second Bite and Coles began working together in order to provide the most effective and safe way of donating fresh surplus stock to communities in need. Their focus being to provide local communities with available nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste.“
With the help of local community organisations, like The Hub, they have been able to secure outlets where the food can be distributed effectively.
Joanne Love, Coordinator at the Hub, is also additionally grateful for the support by local businesses with items like bread. Groundbake Artisan Bakery, located on Surf road in Cronulla, kindly supply quality baked goods for food distribution day at The Hub.
