If you are 1 of the 3 million Australians living with depression or anxiety right now, you need to know there are people that can help you.
It can be hard to seek assistance. Take baby steps. Your first step is to see your Doctor.
SEE YOUR DOCTOR! Depression is a SERIOUS ILLNESS. Talk to your doctor about what’s going on. Here’s an opening line if you need it, “Hi Dr ………. , I’ve been feeling a bit off/low and I think I need some help, someone to talk to.”
Sometimes admitting there is a problem is beyond frightening. Your doctor is there to help you physically and mentally.
GET A REFERRAL TO SEE A THERAPIST/COUNSELLOR/PSYCHOLOGIST/PSYCHIATRIST.
If money is an issue tell your Doctor. Medicare has put in place a program that will assist you. Ask your Doctor for a MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT PLAN. This will entitle you to FREE/REBATED sessions with a qualified practitioner.
